Lagoon 42 comes with some noticeable aesthetic changes, being also the reason for winning the 2016 Boat of the Year Award in the less than 50 feet category and also the Best Multihull Cruising Boat in the 40 to 50 feet category.
The underside of the bridge deck was designed in such a way to reduce the undesired pounding on the rough seas, the glazed vertical windows are bend around the corners and minimized so the amount of heat inside the boat during summer months to be reduced, while the circular coach roof forms a compound curve all around the cabin house.

On Deck
With the new design, Lagoon 42 offers an improved deck access from one end to the other. The widened transoms offer more space for boarding from the deck or from the dinghy, with just two steps leading up to the single level cockpit.
Lagoon 42 exterior
capetanos.comIn the cockpit, the starboard table can accommodate up to 8 persons, facing a couch that seats another two. On the port side there is a lounge, cozy for two, and another small seat that spans the space ahead of the davits.
On the port side there is also the helm station, offering a good communication spot, while the visibility forward is good especially if you are tall. On the helm station there is plenty of room for two persons, one steering the helm and one handling the two winches that manage most of the lines.
The helm ergonomics have been improved on the Lagoon 42, giving you a clear view of the mainsail, down to the many handholds for anyone who doesn’t have a grip on the helm. On the other hand, there are no handholds mounted on the coach roof, but you can run your hands along its finished bottom edge and steady move around.
The mast has been set aft to open up the foretriangle and allow for more downwind sail choices, but also to also keep the boat’s weight centred and to reduce pitching. The compression post is in the centre of the saloon, where it actually makes a good handhold. On the new Lagoon 42, the boom is shorter while the mast is taller, to create an efficient high-aspect-ratio. With the square-top mainsail which adds another 40 square feet of sail area over the standard mainsail, powers the boat more effectively. The self-tacking jib moves on a track forward of the mast, thereby making it easier to be singlehanded or with less crew members.
Lagoon 42 is also equipped with a Code Zero, mounted on a furler, and it can be deployed in seconds, which radically transforms the behaviour and performance of this cruiser.

A glass door leads from the cockpit to the saloon, door that offers good air circulation combined with the two forward opening windows during hot summer days, and also a wider space to move around between the deck and the saloon. The galley is well equipped, including a cooker/stove with three hobs, a single sink to starboard and a refrigerator to port side.
The top-loading fridge is located at the edge of the stairs to the port hull. It has a large volume, making it perfect to store food and drinks for longer passages. There is also the possibility to have a microwave oven installed in the galley, best to use with the generator or in the marina, while plugged in to electric power.
Lagoon 42 saloon
capetanos.comIn the saloon you’ll also find a large L-shaped settee inside that also serves as a seat for the chart table and nav-station, equipped with sailing instruments, from where you can also operate the helm, auto pilot and navigation instruments.
Next to the chart table there is also a large table which can accommodate up to 8 persons. Underneath the sitting area, there is plenty of storage for supplies.
This catamaran may be available either in a 3 cabin or in a 4 cabin layout.
For the 4 cabin layout, on both ports you will have quite the same configuration. All four cabins have double beds, big windows and plenty of storage areas for cloths and equipment. All hatches have blinds and mosquito nets, and offer good ventilation during summer nights.
The aft cabins are larger and wider, you can pass around the bed and offer better light, due to the large windows. One particular reason to choose the aft cabin if you plan to rent this catamaran, is that you have an aft window, that can offer some amazing views while sailing.
The heads are well equipped, with toilet, sink and pull-out shower for the forward cabins and full shower cabin for the aft ones.
Overall, the Italian styling of Nauta Design adds an elegant touch, which can be personalized with a variety of different fabric or leather along with top class wood finishes.
